This assortment is dedicated to displaying all the pulleys that we offer for your 3D printer and CNC machine. Our collection consists of idler pulleys that are ideal for supporting and leading different types of timing belts. The idler pulleys have been designed to be used on aluminum bars for smooth linear motion. They are an important mechanical component of your machine as they are responsible for the movement of timing belts, and together they drive an axis. More specifically, the pulleys act as a wheel that carries the timing belt on its rims.
The proper support and precise movement of the axis allows the hot end to move across the frame of a 3D printer to accurately extrude filament onto the build plate. This will determine the overall quality of the model you are 3D printing. We advise the pulleys from our own premium brand RepRapWorld Pro. The pulleys are extremely durable and have been created for high-performance 3D printing. Not only do they provide better precision but they also have a nice finish.
We offer a diverse selection of pulleys that can be placed onto your 3D printer for smooth transmission. There are many options to choose from and we would like to advise you on some of the things to take into account. With the left filter menu, you can easily check the different attributes that you are looking for in a pulley. Whether you prefer a driver or driven type will depend on your 3D printer or CNC machine.
The driver pulley can be mounted onto a stepper motor whereas the driven type is to guide the timing belt. It is crucial that the inside diameter of the driver pulley fits the stepper motor shaft so that everything can be assembled correctly. For Nema17 stepper motors, 5 mm will fit properly. Nema23 can fit either 6.35 mm or 8 mm. With grub screws you can fasten the pulley onto the stepper motor shaft.
The outer diameter of a pulley will determine the speed versus torque. Combining a bigger and smaller pulley results in either a faster rotation or slower rotation, with a lower or higher torque trade-off. For a specific calculation, please visit the Pulley Calculator.
There are specific key features to consider that concern whether the pulleys will match with your 3D printer’s timing belts. The most compatible timing belts for the pulleys are the T2.5 and T5 types. Select a timing belt width of either 6 mm or 9 mm to correctly fit your pulley.
Smooth pulleys can be utilized to guide the back of a timing belt. The toothed pulleys must be placed on the toothed side of the timing belt. Avoid placing the toothed side of the timing belt on the smooth side of the pulley since this will cause vibrations and a ringing in the 3D print. Find pulleys in silver or black, whichever fits the look of your 3D printer best!
